The Two Sergeants Instants Prior to the Aggressor Was Tasered

A ranking policeman who rushed to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the King's Commendation for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a blade to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Officer stabbed," the constable was heard to say over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam footage shared by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade extended.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground even though being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, ending the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my throat here, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple lacerations to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced knife wounds.

Officials stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his fellow officer's bleeding prior to medical personnel came.

The new award comes after the law enforcement team were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional officer association in spring 2024.

They additionally received a North West Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The actions of each policeman ultimately rescued each other and meant no bystanders endured any wounds."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, according to the department.
